Upcoming password changes for 2023
In 2023 all schools need to be using either G Suite or Microsoft Office 365 to authenticate all users - staff and students. KAMAR discontinued built in KAMAR passwords in 2023 for third party services.
Why the change?
It is insecure for your school's management system to know student and staff passwords. If you can see these passwords on any screen in your management system, it means they are being stored in PLAIN TEXT which means that it is possible for an unauthorized user (such as a rogue student) to view the passwords.
Career Central takes security seriously, and we will be assisting schools where possible with this change. At the end of 2022 we will be looking at the schools that have not made the switch - and discuss with them options to securely store passwords.
How is storing passwords in the cloud more secure?
Both Google & Microsoft have fantastic security protocols - and have enterprise level support available to keep your school's data safe & secure. We do suggest that you host your cloud solutions in NZ where possible, as this means that the student data is sitting literally in a New Zealand data centre - where the strict NZ laws to data security apply.
