Under the Programmes tab you can set up your Gateway, Trades and Taster Courses.

Gateway: On this page you can set up the employers involved in gateway. Under “Create New Programme” add the name of the business/employer who is offering work placement and click “add”. You can also add any other placements/programmes you offer in Gateway that may not be directly with an employer.

The Status refers to whether you want to record a student as enrolled, interested or declined but you can add other status if required.

Once you have all your employers/programmes in the system you can record students as enrolled in Gateway. This will then appear on their profile for other staff to see. You can also record them as interested, declined, withdrawn or any other status you have created.

In the notes box you can add details of when the placement happens and how long it runs for e.g. Every Wednesday during term 2 etc… or if a student has been declined you can add why they were declined so that a careers advisor, dean or group teacher could work with the student to help them meet the criteria.

You can also create a group from this page (e.g. all students involved in the Red Shirts programme) in order to send students a group message or invite them to an event.

Click 'Begin' and you will see a list of all the students added.

Tick the ones you want in your group or search using the search function and then click "create group". This group will now appear in your group/search tab and you can send them messages, invites etc....

On the student screen they have the option to submit an expression of interest in Gateway (if you show them the Gateway request page) and you will receive this as a request (and an email). Once the request is received you can add them as interested and let the student know you will consider them for the programme. This is a good way to keep track of requests you have coming in.

Trades: On this page you can indicate students who are involved in Trades Academy programmes. As with Gateway you can record them as interested or enrolled and other staff will be able to view this on the student profile.

Under “create a new programme” you can enter the name of the Trades Academy e.g. Construction and Infrastructure – Year 1. You will then be able to choose it from the drop down box under Programmes when adding students. You can record extra details (like the day of the week the student is out of school) in the Notes box and this will also be recorded on the student’s profile.

Taster Courses: This page is very similar to the Gateway and Trades pages. You can advertise Taster Courses to students through Career Central and they can show interest via a request to you. You can then record their interest under the courses tab and contact them when the course is available. It is also a good way to ensure that the course they would like to attend matches their occupational interests.
